“Bringing back the past in the small town tradition” serves as a reminder that life in Snow Hill is a reflection of its history and a salute to its heritage.
Snow Hill is governed by the Mayor and Council. John Charles “Charlie” Dorman serves as the town's mayor and three districts in the town elect representatives to serve on the council. Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. The government offices of Snow Hill are housed in Town Hall on Bank Street. Kelly Brewington is the Town Manager.
Life in Snow Hill is greatly enhanced by the town's Historic District and its Arts & Entertainment District, Arts on the River. SHARP, Snow Hill Alliance for Responsible Progress is the parent organization for Arts on the River and sponsors events in the town throughout the year, such as a Community Art Project, First Friday celebrations, and Sidewalk Art. The Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual Family Independence Day Celebration as well as Christmas in Snow Hill. Other family events include the Blessing of the Combines and the Worcester County Fair held in town every summer.
Social life and family life in the town are knitted together through the schools, churches and civic organizations. Volunteer opportunities abound. Snow Hill Elementary, Snow Hill Middle and Snow Hill High School are part of Worcester County's well-funded public education system. The county's new Worcester Career & and Technology Center is under construction just north of town. The Snow Hill Christian Nursery School provides preschool learning and daycare for young children. The Snow Hill Branch of the Worcester County Library is central to the educational life of the town. It sponsors lectures, cultural presentations, and children's program throughout the year.
Snow Hill is proud to offer a full complement of healthcare facilities ranging from doctors' and dentists' offices, professional pharmacy, to a nursing and rehabilitation center, and an Adult Daycare Center. Atlantic General Hospital, a 62 beds community hospital, is located 15 miles north in Berlin. Peninsula Regional Medical Center, a 366 bed medical center which includes the Guerrieri Heart and Vascular Institute, the Henson Cancer Institute, the Regional Trauma Center and other tertiary services is 18 miles away in Salisbury. The Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company provides emergency response and transport to these facilities.
Surrounded by rich farmland, Snow Hill is situated along the beautiful Pocomoke River. Two public parks grace its banks, Sturgis Park and Byrd Park while The John Walter Smith Regional Park is on the outskirts of town. Short drives to Furnace Town Living Heritage Museum, the Pocomoke River State Park, and to Assateague Island National Seashore Park offer an exciting perspective to the natural beauty of the area.
