Public Boat Ramp and Dockage

expand Byrd Park

Situated on the banks of the Pocomoke River and located just off West Market Street, Byrd Park is the largest of the three town parks in Snow Hill. Its new concession stand and wide expanses of green grass make it ideal for festivals and specials events. The large pavilions provide shade from the hot sun and shelter from inclement weather. Children will find hours of fun on the eco-friendly playground next to the pavilions.

Boaters will find ramps for canoes, kayaks, and motor boats. There is dockage available along with water, electricity, comfort stations, lighted parking lots, and spacious picnic areas. Fishing is permitted on the docks in the park without a fishing license.

Call Town Hall for reservations of the facilities at 410-632-2080.

expand Milburn Landing

Milburn Landing is part of the Pocomoke River State Park system. It offers ramps for boaters. Lighted parking lots, a dump station, and comfort stations are available for campers. Its 32 campsites and multiple picnic areas make it an attractive recreational area. Two pavilions are available for special events and can be rented on a first come first serve basis. Pets are allowed in the campground.

Reservations and further information can be found at Maryland's Department of Natural Resources website..

Reservations may also be made by calling (410) 632-2566 x106 or emailing the park at pocomokepaddler@dnr.state.md.us.

expand Public Landing

Public Landing is located on the Chincoteague Bay about 6.5 miles east of Snow Hill on Maryland Route 365. There is a public pier for fishing and crabbing.

Public Landing was a popluar spot during the 1920s and early 1930s, when rides, a bowling alley, and other amusements were open. The shallow Chincoteague Bay made it attractive for public bathing. However, the storm of 1933 destroyed Public Landing's commercial waterfront.

expand Shad Landing

Shad Landing is located at the Pocomoke River State Park. It boasts 191 campsites. The camp loops at Robins Nest and Waters Edge remain open for winter camping. All campsites are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Centrally located washhouses have hot water showers, flush toilets and a laundry tub. All types of camping units are welcome. Some campsites have electric hookups. Sites are limited to six persons per site and all camping units must fit on the camping pad. A dumping station is available for sewage and potable water.

Two pavilions with fireplaces, grills and picnic tables are available for rent by advance reservation. Reservation fees cover the rental of the pavilion and not the surrounding area which is on a first come, first served basis. Each pavilion has a seating capacity of 180. Arrival time is after 8 a.m. and departure is at sunset.

The Shad Landing Marina has 23 boat slips with water and electrical hookups, launching ramp, lighted dock area and a fuel and transient pier. Rowboats and canoes may be rented.

Reservations and further information can be found at Maryland's Department of Natural Resources website..

Reservations may also be made by calling (410) 632-2566 x106 or emailing the park at pocomokepaddler@dnr.state.md.us.

The towns Riverboat, the Miss Rai can often be seen at the Sturgis Park dock. No fishing license is necessary at the docks in Sturgis Park.
